Search Engine Optimized Web sites
We designed this site to do well with search engines.
- We take steps to assure that the first text that the search engine sees is rich with keywords and is attractive to visitors.
- Keyword prominence is one of the more difficult attributes to control. We want the most important keywords to come first to the search engines. That means top, left visually. Or does it? What about tables, cells, <tr>'s, <td>'s? We use the three columns in this page to a few of the most prominent keywords and links in the left column, most of the keyword content in the middle top, and "bad" keywords in the middle bottom, or right column. What is a "bad "keyword? A keyword not relevant to the main pitch for the site.
- We have carefully thought out our link strategy. The menu bar above is not seen by search engines. This is good because we avoid having nonsence displayed as a result of a search. It is bad because the search engines can't spider ths site from it.
- We have a site map to enable search engines to spider the site
- We can optimize the home page for only a few keywords, so we expand on that with keyword rich pages such as "Ecommerce Definition." Currently number 3 out of 3,150,000 on Google. This entry page brings traffic.
Custom Database Application Development
The Web/database application running at IPN is an example of what we can do. We analyzed the business problem and opportunity, architected a Web solution, designed the database, and designed and developed the Website. The application makes it easy for a team of program committee members to enter information about programs that change monthly. Program description, speakers, speaker bio's, sponsors and their logos can be added through the Web-based administrative console. The system automatically posts current program calendars, program detail pages, and online payment/registration pages. It works great, looks great, and saves IPN time and money.
The site was implemented with Macromedia MX, using ASP and MS Access database.
